Previous delivery experience is helpful but not essential at Rotary. You do still need at least one year of driving experience, and you must meet the other requirements of the role — most of which are checked before you start.

Driving experience means time on the road with a full licence: reading traffic, parking and handling a vehicle confidently. Delivery experience is the specific job — working a planned route, using the delivery app and completing stops to procedure.
Rotary requires the first, not the second. If you have driven for at least a year, the delivery side is taught in paid training before you run a route on your own.
Criminal-record and drug and alcohol checks are required. We pay for them. Previous multi-drop experience is helpful but not essential.
Training starts in the classroom, where you learn the delivery procedures, the app and safe driving standards. It is paid.
You then complete supported on-road days with an experienced driver. You deliver real stops with someone beside you, and you only take a route on your own once training is complete. The driver guide explains what a typical day looks like once you are running your own route.
Routes are planned and sequenced before you load, so you work through a defined round rather than searching for your next stop. It is active work: regular walking, lifting parcels, getting in and out of the van and speaking to customers at the door. You work independently on the road, with the support team available when you need them.
The van, fuel and business-use insurance are arranged for the role. The van is not free — it carries a £8 hire charge for each working day, taken from your route payment.
Pay works like this: £137.40 per completed route, minus the £8 daily vehicle hire, leaving £129.40 per completed route before tax. The driver guide explains the payments in full, including weekly examples and the honest caveats.
