Your guide to delivery driving with Rotary
Read this before you apply. It explains the role, how the payments work, what we provide and what a working day looks like.
The opportunity
This is self-employed multi-drop delivery work in the Cardiff area. You collect a planned route from the dispatch station and deliver parcels to homes and businesses. You invoice for the routes you complete and look after your own tax and National Insurance.
You need to be available 4 to 6 days each week, including at least one weekend day.
Route pay and vehicle hire
- £137.40 service payment per completed route.
- £8 vehicle hire per working day.
- £129.40 after vehicle hire, before tax.
- Payments are made weekly.
| Completed routes | Service payments | Vehicle hire | After vehicle hire |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | £549.60 | −£32 | £517.60 |
| 5 | £687 | −£40 | £647 |
| 6 | £824.40 | −£48 | £776.40 |
These examples assume one completed route per working day, with vehicle hire charged each day. They are shown before tax, exclude bonuses and any applicable VAT, and are not guaranteed earnings or take-home pay. Availability does not guarantee route allocation.

Training and a typical day
Classroom training is paid, and you complete supported on-road days with an experienced driver before you run a route on your own.
- 1.Arrive at the station at your allocated start time.
- 2.Complete your vehicle checks.
- 3.Load your route in the loading area.
- 4.Deliver to homes and businesses, following the delivery procedures.
- 5.Stay in contact with the support team if anything changes.
- 6.Return to the station, complete the vehicle check and hand back the keys.
A route is usually around 150 to 180 stops, sometimes more depending on the area, parcel volume and time of year. Expect a lot of walking, regular lifting and getting in and out of the van throughout the day.
